About the Artwork
Located in Knocklyon, this was my first piece as part of the Dublin Canvas Project back in 2019. I lost my dog Ruby earlier that year and after drawing this image as part of a college project I noticed it looked just like her. I then found out that the traffic signal box opposite the park we walked in every day was available for submission. I thought this would be a nice place to put her- looking across at her park and watching over all the other doggies in the area. I was delighted to be accepted as part of the project and couldn’t wait to paint it. Three years on it still looks vibrant and fresh and I’m so lucky it’s never been defaced!
I walk past it nearly everyday and I love the idea that it brightens up the place while celebrating the unique relationship between owner and dog (of which there are loads in Knocklyon!)
