About the Artwork

Historically, Gladiolus flowers represent Courage and Victory after a battle. This piece, painted in 2021, is located outside St. James' Hospital and features an elderly man and a nurse surrounded by these flowers. The artist's hope for this artwork is that it may stand as a small but positive symbol to be seen by all those who frequent the hospital. The image stands for hope and victory for all those fighting the countless battles being waged within the building- be it during the pandemic during which it was painted or our own individual health struggles.
