About the Artwork
This artwork features three old women outside of the cathedral in Phibsboro. Situated in the heart of north Dublin, this huge church houses a spectacular stained glass window by Irish artist Harry Clarke. “The Oul’ones” features a quintessentially Dublin sight of three old women catching up on the gossip on their way to mass. Aesthetically, there are several nods and references to Clarke’s work in the black and white colour scheme, small detailing and use of heavy black line work. In short it is a homage to the charm and character of north Dublin while paying tribute an artist that has greatly influenced my own work.
