About the Artwork
This piece was created at the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic and was based on the artist's sister who was a front line healthcare worker. The imagery depicts a sleeping princess framed with a large window baring Gladiolus flowers and surrounded by a Verbascum creeper. Traditionally, the Gladiolus flower represents, strength and victory in battle while the Verbascum is said to symbolise courage, protection and health. This artwork was then applied to a large snuggly jumper and was the artist's way of wrapping her sister up in something positive and beautiful while she isolated to keep her patients safe (and giving her something nice to relax in which she deserved too!)
